Gator delivered again with this little Sec B grulla colt! We would love if some lucky breeder capitalized on our misfortune, as we sadly have far too many colts to retain this little boy (I think the filly fairy must be offended with us this year!).
His results will be posted once returned, but in addition to his dun gene he also has the potential for both cream and silver (which we suspect due to the lack of primitives).

And after seeing how well Auggie crossed with Sophie this year, we just knew we had to get another Tanzie/Ace girlfriend for him! Luckily for us the wait was only a few weeks

Now that we’ve had time to process our excitement it’s time to make the post that Faylin’s Kodachrome deserves! Last year our sweet Favor girl (Evans Daddy’s Favorites) won the medium greens (and we rejoiced for her!), but this year is all the sweeter for hearing our prefix in the placings!!! And by Auggie’s firstborn to boot!
A huge congratulations to Koda, his rider, and all the people that helped him on his way to this great accomplishment with their hard work and dedication!

This little man is becoming a CHONK Perhaps our most fearless foal, Rook never spares a thought for where his mother, Twinkle, is (instead choosing to visit anyone or anything else he can reach).
His trademark 'tousled scoundrel' hairdo is owed to the fact that his legs are simply too long to graze. You too can achieve this look by flinging yourself down onto any patch of nearby grass: just be sure to thrash about for maximum dew/hair coverage after you've finished your meal!

Aaaaand here comes the second foal of the year!
Faylin's Black Truffle: "Truffles" arrived to the farm with a bang, but luckily an angel was watching. This gorgeous boy signifies our first (and hopefully- unrealistically- our last!) red bag birth. We know just how fortunate we were to intervene in time, and pray the rest of foaling season will come with less stress!
Sadly, this event has prompted us to make the difficult decision and retire Getty from her broodmare duties. After weaning Getty will get to live out the rest of her life babysitting Faylin fillies with her BFF Kella. While we would have loved a filly, I can't fault this sweet little black cherub one bit! We lied! There's TWO new faces at Faylin Welsh, and the second belongs to Alpine Acres Bella Nova!
Nova comes from Alpine Acres: the same farm that gave us our beloved Kitty and Ace. In fact, Nova is Kitty's half-sister by Gayfield's Naughty Girl! A resemblance which was immediately evident the moment she stepped off the trailer.
We're honored to have this link to Kitty through her sister, Nova, and finally realizing some of the dreams we thought completely lost with Kitty's passing.

Lilibet didn't make us wait too long! Following her mother's (Mirage's) example, Lilibet foaled this precious little bay filly on the very same day at 8:33pm. Evans Indigo: Seven years old, big-bodied 13hh (takes up a lot of leg), always a beautiful dark smutty palomino with a refined face and the prettiest eyeliner , Indigo is ready to partner with and be finished by a kid in a program. He is green, but he is a solid citizen that will happily take you down the trails, ride by traffic, pony a youngster, double, listen to a walk trotter, etc. He is gentle with no buck, rear, kick, bolt, etc. He is not spooky to things. The one time we took a field trip to WEC, it was storming and thundering badly, and he was very good. He is quirky to people more than any thing, and I would be happy to discuss that more; he is sweet and obedient so the quirkiness doesn't seem to be a big deal. He has recently started on his changes, and he is doing very well...has done several clean changes without much ado. Located by Ocala, FL. 1.

Due to a small bout of heat intolerance on her end and the unfortunate results of a one woman body clip-- at which point I will also add that this was my first ever clip.... and I think it shows 😂 - we’ve been keeping this little girl a secret until I had the time to finish the job. However, my procrastination doesn’t seem to fit Elianna’s schedule- how could I not post this?? Can’t wait to watch this one develop 😍

Look who is FINALLY starting to fill out! Domino (Faylin’s Sacre’ Blue) has been behind the growth curve for a while now, so it is wonderful to see him start to bulk just a bit! Expecting this boy to look fantastic with his spring shed.

It’s taken us a while, but we are finally ready to regretfully announce that last November Cookie (Russetwood Romance) lost her battle with COPD. And with her the Welsh world has lost a titan.
Even amongst broodmares Cookie’s love and devotion to her foals was unrivaled. So it is fitting that she got the chance to raise and wean one last foal alongside her best friend, Elana, before her illness decided to make itself known. It’s always so incredibly easy to argue why there wasn't more time, but it is a great comfort to us that Cookie’s last months were spent here doing what she loved best.
We will always remember Cookie following Monty diligently around their field (at every speed), flirting with Auggie (no matter the situation), and “obliviously” sneaking past her stall every night when it was time to get tucked in (where a stern “Cookie...” would send her unapologetically back to her stall- almost as if you couldn’t blame her for trying).
Heaven’s herd is wealthier one more golden pony (in more ways than just color). Rest easy Cookie; you will be sorely missed 💛
